WELCOME TO HOPE & DESIGN!

It's more than beautiful spaces.

Hello! I am Hope Navarrette, owner & designer here at Hope & Design. I wanted to take the opportunity to introduce myself and my business. I have been in the industry for over 10 years but I have been in business for myself for about a year now, which is absolutely crazy. It has been a whirlwind! I decided to start this blog to introduce myself, my business, my values and the projects I have the honor of working on. I feel like I've always been an old soul, and the whole social media thing is, admittedly, not my forte, but I know that people want to get to know the person behind the business, so here we are!

My Credentials

My grandfather was a contractor, so I believe it's in my blood. My dad did some form of carpentry/construction most of my young life, so I grew up just thinking my dad could build anything. So we did. I would draw/create and he would help me practically execute. I was constantly moving furniture around my house, painting my room (thankfully mom & dad were accommodating to my crazy ideas!) building, repurposing & refinishing furniture. Then I found out that I could do this for a living and my mind was set.

I went to community college, where, of course, I changed my major about six times before going back to Interior Design. I transferred to Fresno State, where I learned to hate interior design and received my Bachelor's degree. I wasn't even sure I wanted to do this anymore, but I had the degree! I was working in a part time internship, and that designer connected me with a local tile store looking for a full time showroom person. That job re-sparked my love for design. In school, you don't have the human connection needed for good design! I fell in love with tile, and kitchens and baths and most of all, helping people pull it all together. Contractors got wind of my background and started sending people in for more than just tile selections. After nearly five years in tile, I was ready to take the next step and I found a designer who was preparing to retire. She took me under her wing and taught me SO much. I worked under her for almost five years, learning, building rapport with contractors & growing as a designer. In January of 2022, I decided it was time, I was confident, so I launched Hope & Design.

About Me

I am married to my best friend, and I know everyone says that, but it's 100% true. There is no one I'd rather spend my time with. My husband owns his own coffee roasting business and this past year has decided to test his strength with Powerlifting & Strongman. We've been together for 12 years, married for 7. NO kids! We do talk about it, but we just haven't gotten there... yet. We have two huskies, an Australian shepherd and two rescue kitties.

We both are full time ministry. Interior design is my passion, but it comes second to the opportunity so share the person of Jesus Christ, in speaking, music or outreach. We lead worship anywhere and everywhere we are asked, usually at least 3-4 times a week. We are youth leaders at a local church, and those are our kids. We are a part of a ministry called His Presence Ministry that holds weekly Bible studies, Sunday morning worship gatherings, and feeds around 100 homeless every week. The goal of the ministry is to reveal Christ & teach people how to live in their God given identity, Christ in me, the Hope of Glory. Something I certainly try to do every single day.

Starting my business was a leap of faith, but it was 1000% the right decision. I'm so thankful to be able to do things HIS way. It isn't always easy, and to some, it seems a little backwards, but I wouldn't have it any other way. My parents are my business partners, which is also a little crazy! My mom retired from banking and finance so she takes care of the paperwork and books, so I can focus on my clients, which I am very thankful for. My dad is also retired but he pretty much spends his time being "Papa" to my seven year old niece.

What's in a name?

The name. I swear I am not narcissistic. But, lucky for me my name, Hope, doesn't just identify me, it identifies a feeling, a peace, a hope.

Hope is defined as "a feeling of expectation and desire for a certain thing to happen."

My desire, is that I take my clients hopes & dreams and make them into reality through good design. Hence, Hope & Design.

Beyond that, I also want to share the ultimate hope, by representing Christ in everything I do, including design.
